tokina 828,80-200 f2.8 = my new toy

yahoo auction is just just too addictive! it's evil i tell u, i cant stop surfing that site! anyways, this is my new toy/lens. not what i wanted( i wanted nikon's 80-200 or even better the 70-200VR,drools..) but i couldnt afford any of those and i found this little gem. it's a bargain at 26,600 yen, shiping excluded. it's 2nd hand though but aside from scratches on the body, everything else is in tip top condition. a guy from lowyat managed to buy this at RM100 and that's a steal! retail for this would be near Rm3,000.

so my initial impressions during my 1st test run. SHARP, sharpness is just awesome! some say it's soft when it's wide open and they could be right but at f4 down, it beats the crap out from my other two lenses. color rendition is nice, contrasty. autofocus would be the main problem as it doesnt have internal focusing like nikon's AF-S,Canon's USM or Sigma's HSM. it doesn't mean it's slow but it doesnt move at the speed of light with the other 3 brands. oh, it's heavy. weighing at 1.35kg, it can be demanding on your hand. but on the good side, it's build like a tank, metal finishing and very very solid.

dunno what to post but i found some pics that i have posted up yet. this is kimshing's gundam. 300++... enough to get my 50mm lens :( but the model is pretty cool. wing zero custom is one of my favourite models and the perfect grade will just blow your mind awayyyyyy, seriosuly :P

Toyama Trip

as i said in my previous post, 2 japanese dudes and i went on a crazy train trip. the night before, i went to stay at my tutor's place cos we wanted to leave on the first train out at 5.58am! lols, we didnt even sleep that nightt, played the japanese version of 'taiti' called 'dai hei min' or sth like tht. more complicated, complex and definitely more fun (unless u play taiti with $$) rules are abundant and it makes u think of different strategies! after breakfast made by her mom,we left at 558am on a not so cold day luckily. as we didnt sleep that night, most of the train time was devoted to sleeping. after alot of train changing pass takayama n so on, and taking a bus ( cos the train line broke due to a typhoon i think) we finally reached toyama at 1215 pm! thats about 6 hours! our 1st stop was lunch, a stand soba eatery! pretty good n cheap, ehehe. next off, we went to visit the new light rail transit in the city and i was pretty impressed, hoped on it for 100 yen and went to the beach! for the 2 japanese guys from gifu where it isnt covered by sea, they love the sea alot :P ehehe .. i loved the beach too and the view was great.. only thing missing was bikini babes but what can i expect during winter? after pics here n there, we headed departed from toyama at 5pm.. took a different route this time pass fukui to maibara( so we actually made one big loop)din have change alot of trains so it was a pleasant rest except for the bloody hot seat!will explain more in pics:P

Was a boy, still is a boy

it's now 941am. the ceremony will begin in 20 mins, why am i still blogging here? today is 成人式 , adult ceremony. in japan, it's the day to pray for 20 year olds, the day this little kids become adults and enter society. it also means alot of drinking and smoking( not that they've not tried it already) i was invited to the ceremony today, me being 20 still. i intended to go.(mainly just to see girls in kimono.. it's not everyday 20yr old chicks dress up in kimono.. if not never?)i woke up at 7, had a hearty breakfast, got dressed and i went out at around 840am. then all hell broke loose. actually hell already started but i was just being an idiot. see, of all days, it had to snow! snow like a madman, i tell you, the crystal maiden must be behind this!it's only the 2nd time i snowed here this winter but why now?!?! so let me tell u how much of an idiot i was. i thought to myself,'it ain't so bad, just a lil snow won't kill u'. the warning signs were already there as i stepped out of the building, 'splash''splash' it went. i totally ignored this warning and headed of to my bike-mobile. i hoped on and went on my journey to become a man!

not 5 mins later, i was regretting my very decision.i moved slowly, my left hand holding my umbrella( wasn't much of a help at all...) while my right was steering the bike through the oh so white road. then a car zoomed past me , and splash! crap, my pants are soaked with dirty mud water. but i chose to presevere, i toughen up and continued my journey to become an adult. another minute later, i looked at myself and so myself covered in brownish white snow.. dang, there goes my suit..dry cleaning expenses on the way! yet i still decided to go.. the thought of kimono chicks was just too alluring. and hey, it's a one of a lifetime kinda thing.. i don't get to be 20 every year u know. so i headed on and on and blah, my glasses started to fog up!(i'm gonna complain to jane's mother! :P ) with visibility worse than a 600 api haze, i could barely see anything. to add the troubles, my hands were getting tired, the umbrella was getting heavier n heavier, snow aint light! then the finishing blow struck! i overshot the turning. i gave up. i'm all drenched. even though i found the right turning, i decided to head back, i'd get sick if i continued to dress like this. in the end, the kimono chicks will always just remain in my memory..forever and ever and ever.. i failed to become a man, an adult. the only man i became was a snowman....

p.s: there's one positive i took from all of this, the scenery was just awesome.. i'm waiting for this blizzard to 'cool' down a little before i head back out into 'hell'.

Universal Studios Japan

on the last day at osaka, we went to universal studios japan(usj). when i had this message put up on msn, alot of ppl thought i was going to subang jaya!lolz... met up with li jia and her sis, li yin , who is here on holidays. her sis is urm ... hyper,crazy,mad, too much sugar shots to her head i think. made us look damn old(not that we're not) had a bloody hard time catching up with her. the weather wasnt good tht day.. rain here n there, so there wasnt too many people and we finished most of the rides and shows.

1.the glObe!2.james n i3.the spiderman ride,easily the best ride of the park.. its a rollercoaster in 3D with u as the victim of the goblin and dr.octopus while spiderman will come to rescue u. love the 4d effects where they spray water at you or blow up stuff.
